The map is the foundation of everything. An alert is only meaningful when it is spatially anchored to a real place on real land. A sensor reading is only useful when it is placed in the context of the zone it belongs to.

This is why FarmHUD begins with mapping — not with software configuration.

Mapping process

The mapping process is the first phase of every FarmHUD installation. It is not a background task — it is the most important work we do, because every subsequent layer of intelligence depends on it being right.

Capture the property

We capture the property using drone and satellite imagery at multiple resolutions. The capture covers the full boundary, internal roads, water features, buildings, fencing, crop zones, camera positions, and key infrastructure. Nothing is assumed from a template — every pixel is your land.

Trace the real boundary

The property boundary is traced precisely — not as a rectangle, but as it actually exists. Irregular edges, waterfront curves, fence jogs, road entries, and neighbour boundaries are all represented accurately. This boundary becomes the outer shell of every HUD view.

Define operational zones

The land inside the boundary is divided into named operational zones based on how the property actually functions — not a generic grid. Paddocks, crop blocks, access roads, water points, buildings, security perimeters, and transition zones are all defined with real spatial data.

Mark infrastructure

Every physical element relevant to the HUD is placed on the map: camera positions with coverage arcs, sensor nodes, network cable routes, water supply lines, power infrastructure, underground pipes, and equipment locations. This layer prevents damage and enables fast fault diagnosis.

Connect data sources

Each zone and infrastructure point is connected to its live data sources — cameras, sensors, flow meters, voltage monitors, weather stations, and soil probes. The map is no longer static: it becomes the spatial index for all real-time data on the property.

Train movement and risk patterns

The ML model uses the zone map to understand context. An alert is not just an event — it is an event at a specific place, at a specific time, relative to a known pattern. The map defines what is normal so the system can recognise what is not.

Deploy the HUD

The finished map is the foundation of the heads-up display. Every HUD view, alert card, zone detail, and sensor reading is spatially anchored to the real property. When you look at the HUD, you are looking at your land.

Machine-learning context

FarmHUD learns what is normal on a specific property.

A person near a fence at 2am is not the same as animal movement near the waterfront. A vehicle at the gate during the day is not the same as a vehicle stopping on an internal road at night.

FarmHUD uses the zone, time, object, pattern, and risk profile to decide what matters. None of this is possible without a precise map of the property as the spatial context for every event.
